Hurricane Erin (05L) - Tropical Cyclone Update #5 - 11 AM EDT 8/21/25 & Focus on Central Virginia
Erin beginning to pull away from the Mid-Atlantic coast but extremely dangerous coastal flooding, heavy surf, and life-threatening rip currents will continue today and tomorrow. Pleasant weather for the weekend.


Hurricane Erin (05L) - Tropical Cyclone Update #4 - 9 AM EDT 8/20/25
Erin likely to cause tropical storm conditions in the Outer Banks later tonight and the Virginia Atlantic coast tomorrow. Potentially catastrophic coastal flooding and life-threatening heavy surf and rip currents are expected to intensify today.



Hurricane Erin (05L) - Tropical Cyclone Update #2 - 2 PM EDT 8/17/25
Category 3 Hurricane Erin passing well north of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Still expected to remain well offshore but the wind field could expand enough to bring tropical storm conditions to the Outer Banks by midweek.

Erin passing to the north of the Leeward Islands as a powerful Category 4 hurricane, expected to become a Category 5 hurricane later today. Not a direct threat to the U.S. east coast, but extremely dangerous heavy surf and rip currents are likely.
