Pleasant weather stays in place in Central Virginia today, but heat and humidity return tomorrow and stick around through Saturday. Second Summer should be short, though, with a return to fall-like weather on Sunday.

Erin losing tropical characteristics as it accelerates out to sea. This is the last update but dangerous heavy surf and rip currents will likely persist at the beaches through early next week.

Category 3 Hurricane Erin passing well north of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Still expected to remain well offshore but the wind field could expand enough to bring tropical storm conditions to the Outer Banks by midweek.

Heat and humidity return to Central Virginia this week with daily rain chances through Friday. Tropical Storm Erin forms far out in the Atlantic and will very likely not be a concern...but it's still too early to say it won't be.
