Most of the basin is quiet. Tropical Depression 21W will likely bring some rain to Japan on Thursday and Friday, while another low could pose a threat to Taiwan and portions of the Philippines early next week.

Active tropical cyclones:
Tropical Depression 21W, located south of Kyushu. Refer to tropical cyclone advisories.
Disturbances/invest areas:
Disturbance A (east-southeast of Luzon): A broad and elongated area of low pressure is located in the central Philippine Sea well to the east-southeast of Luzon. Upper-level winds are currently not conducive for development. However, the low is forecast to move west-northwestward and encounter a somewhat more favorable environment, and a tropical depression will likely form over the weekend as the system passes northeast of Luzon. Interests in Taiwan, the Batanes and Babuyan Islands, and far northeastern Luzon should monitor the progress of this system.
Formation chance through 48 hours: LOW - 10% 🟡
Formation chance through 7 days: HIGH - 70% 🔴
Disturbance B (off the coast of Vietnam): A weak area of low pressure currently located east of Vietnam is producing limited shower activity. Any development of this system will likely be slow to occur as it moves slowly north, then northwestward during the next several days.
