WPAC Tropical Weather Outlook - 6/13/25

Severe Tropical Storm Wutip (01W) continues to lurk near Hainan Island. 94W becomes extratropical, and a new disturbance near the Philippines has a low chance of development next week

Active tropical cyclones:

  • Severe Tropical Storm Wutip (01W), located on the western coast of Hainan Island. Refer to tropical cyclone advisories.

  • Tropical Depression (94W/ex-Auring): The tropical depression that was previously invest area 94W and PAGASA TD Auring has become extratropical and is in the process of merging with a frontal system.

Disturbances/invest areas:

  • Disturbance A (east of Mindanao): A low pressure area is forecast to form early next week within a large area of disturbed weather east of Mindanao. Environmental conditions are expected to be marginally conducive for some gradual development of this system as it moves northwestward toward northern Luzon by midweek. By late in the week, stronger upper-level winds and land interaction should end this system's development chances.
