  • Movement: WNW at 10 knots (20 km/h)

  • Intensity: 30 knots (55 km/h) 

  • Central pressure: 1006 hPa

Trend:

  • Some strengthening is forecast during the next 24 hours, and the depression will likely become a tropical storm by tonight.

Watches and warnings:

  • There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

Hazards affecting land:

  • The depression is likely to produce heavy rain and damaging winds across portions of northern Luzon beginning Friday afternoon and continuing through Saturday morning. This heavy rainfall could cause flooding of low-lying areas and potential life-threatening landslides. For additional information, refer to products from your local weather office.
