Discussion:

Himawari-9 visible satellite image (Weathernerds)

Co-May has not produced any significant convection for about 24 hours, and it lies as a diffuse swirl of low clouds just northeast of Miyakojima. In addition, the only convection associated with Co-May at all - the cluster of convection near Taiwan - has dissipated along with Co-May’s former mid-level circulation. Strong northeasterly shear will likely prevent convection from returning, so Co-May has become a remnant low. The intensity is lowered to 25 kts, and despite passing directly over Miyakojima, there were no winds stronger than 20 kts reported there. Co-May should continue moving quickly northeastward today before dissipating within the monsoon trough.
